Hanging in the Daintree is a very cool way to pass a few days. The world heritage rainforest is a real mind blower after a few days in the neon tourist town of Cairns. The contrasts are plain to see with thick lush jungle spilling down onto white sandy beaches. Scattered amongst the forest are low-key hostels and camp-grounds and nothing much else. The emphasis up here is on chilling right out. Wake up to the sounds of the Daintree and stumble down for a swim in the tropical blue waters before collapsing in a hammock with a good book. Or if you like something a bit more energetic grab a kayak and explore the reef or hike up into the mountains and trip out on the view. If you make it to Cairns you must go that one step further and check out this truly phenomenal place.
